Privacy Policy

spotlightvote (“we, us, and/or our”) respects your concerns about privacy and values the relationship we have with you. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from www.spotlightvote.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal data we collect and process, how we may use and share the data, and the choices that are available to you with respect to our handling of your data.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

Cookies, Log Files and Web Beacons

  • “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer to uniquely identify your browser or to store information or settings in your browser. Your browser may tell you how to be notified when you receive certain types of cookies and how to restrict or disable certain cookies. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your operating system type, browser type, domain, and other system settings, as well as the language your system uses and the country and time zone in which your device is located. The web server logs also may record information such as the address of the web page that linked you to our site and the IP address of the device you use to connect to the Internet.
  • “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers and expiration date), email address, phone number, and purchased marketing data. We refer to this information as “Order Information”.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

This privacy policy does not cover information that you submit on other websites, even if we communicate with you on those sites. For example, if you post something on Facebook or Instagram, that information is governed by the privacy policies on those websites, and is not governed by this policy.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

  • Communicate with you, including requests, inquiries, comments, and suggestions;
  • Protect against, identify, investigate, and respond to fraud or other illegal activity;
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with www.spotlightvote.com, and to assess the success of our marketing, retargeting, and advertising campaigns).

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above, such as Shopify and Google Analytics. For example, we use Shopify to power our online store--you can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here: Privacy Policy. We also use Google Analytics to help us analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, deliver advertising and content targeted to your interests on our Services and other websites, and better understand your online activity -- you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here. You can opt out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful request for information we receive, to protect the safety of our customers and website users or the public, or to otherwise protect spotlightvote’s rights or property.

BEHAVIOURAL ADVERTISING

As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. This process also helps us manage and track the effectiveness of our marketing efforts. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s (“NAI”) educational page at: http://www.networkadvertising.org/understanding-online-advertising/how-does-it-work.

You can opt out of targeted advertising by using the links below:

    - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
    - Google: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/anonymous
    - Bing: https://advertise.bingads.microsoft.com/en-us/resources/policies/personalized-ads

Additionally, you can opt out of some of these services by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal at: http://optout.aboutads.info/.

Instagram:  It does not have dedicated ad settings. Instead, you have to interact with ads on a per-ad basis. As you scroll through your Instagram feed, you’ll see sponsored content with the “Sponsored” label. Much of this content may even be from pages you already follow. But if you’re not into that particular ad, tap the three dots in the upper corner to display its ad settings. From there, you can hide or block the ad. Once you hide it, you’ll get a quick three-question box in its place that lets you tell Instagram why you hid the ad.  It is important to note that no options exist to delete ads; they only stop personalized ads.

    DO NOT TRACK

Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

    YOUR RIGHTS

If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), you may have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are located in the EEA, we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of the EEA, including to the United States.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES AND THIRD-PARTY CONTENT

Our Site may provide links to third-party websites for your convenience and information. These websites may operate independently from us. This Private Policy does not apply to third-party services, and we cannot take responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party services. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of any third-party service before providing any information to or through them.

    DATA RETENTION

Our retention periods for personal data are based on business needs and legal requirements. When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

    CHANGES TO OUR PRIVATE POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.  If we do so, we will post the updated policy on our sites and will indicate when the Privacy Policy was last revised. If we make any material changes, we will provide you with additional notice. You should periodically review our current Privacy Policy to stay informed of our personal data practices.

     SAFEGUARDING PERSONAL INFORMATION

We maintain appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information you provide against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. However, no security system is perfect and we cannot promise that information about you will remain secure in all circumstances.

    CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS

Under California Law, website and online service operators are required to disclose how they respond to web browser “do not track” signals or other similar mechanisms that provide consumers the ability to exercise choice regarding the collection of personal information about a consumer’s online activities over time and across third-party websites.

California law also requires website and online service operators to disclose whether third parties may collect personal information about their users’ online activities over time and across different sites when the users use the operator’s website or service. Third parties that have content or services on our site such as a social feature, analytics service, or an advertising network partner, may obtain information about your browsing or usage habits but this information does not include personal information. These third parties do not change their tracking practices in response to “do-not-track” signals from your web browser and we do not obligate these parties to honor “do-not-track” signals.

If you are a California resident and would like to opt out, please submit a request to the following email address: contact@spotlightvote.com.
